Brian G. Black This project began just before I left on my 10th anniversary trip to Mackinac Island. Cindy stopped by and sang the spider song. She was of the opinion that it wasn't country music so she really had no plans to put it out on her next album. I told her that if she was going to toss it, let me make a spooky Halloween video for her webpage. She sang the song directly into the PC microphone on my desk. I saved about three copies and left on my trip. When I returned July 10th, I toyed with the idea of adding midi instruments to the wav file. Nothing seemed to fit. So I had Cindy come over and sing backup to herself. And I added a little echo with some mixing and viola! So basically you are hearing Cindy, Cindy, Cindy, and Cindy. I returned from camping on August 26th and began shooting the video with a standard VHS camcorder. I will never take a shower with a camcorder again. I found a very large spider outside and filmed it. And the rest is history. But I really feel that this song is country music, it's definition I guess might be more of a ballad. |
Cindy Black This came to me in the shower, I just saw a spider and began singing the chorus of this song. It envisioned it to be more like an Aerosmith tune than anything else. During a recording session at Woody's the two of us created the rest of the lyrics. Before this song hit the Internet I was hit by criticism. I was compared to Marilyn Manson, told that the song was not my style, and that it was "like a orange couch in a blue room". I like all forms of music and I don't want to be put into a box, no artist does, and I just happen to sing country music better than anything else. |
Woody Black Just one word, "CREEPY". |
